About This Piece
I entitled this piece - Rooted, which is my take on the symbiotic relationship between man and nature. The cracked stone pillars represents the abuse of nature by man whilst the roots grow strong, despite the abuse, fighting back at mankind. The roots also represent our interconnected nature. The original piece was created using black india ink on mixed media paper for a group exhibition called CORE.
I have a love affair working in monotone using black india ink. The themes of my work include political statements and social commentary, as well as random, subconsious illustration work. I am inspired to carry and element of truth as a message to the viewer of my artwork. Street art and graffiti is another passion of mine and the roots of my journey as an artist was inspired by my love for comic books as a child. Underground Hip Hop is the sound track to my life.
