Though largely self taught, Rich Gallego also studied at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA., USA. As well, he has taken numerous workshops with well regarded landscape painters such as Karl Dempwolf and George Strickland. Rich spends a good deal of his time painting en plein aire then, when he feels a picture warrants it, he uses these outdoor studies as references for larger studio paintings. He teaches weekly plein aire workshops in California as well as teaching each Summer and Fall for the Taos Art School in Taos, New Mexico, USA. He is represented by Segil Fine Art Source of Monrovia, CA. Additionally, Rich has competed in several national plein aire competitions and invitational events, winning several "Artist's Choice" and "Best of Show" awards.
